Here’s a white paper I researched and wrote for MixTV this summer – Mix is an Internet TV channel, based in Berkeley, Calif., focused on new video content they produce and acquire from indie filmmakers. They plan to launch publicly right away.
White Paper Changes in Entertainment June 2013 v.3
The white paper shows evidence of how the TV landscape has changed drastically. It looks at the saturation of the home market with large, Hi-Def flat-screen TVs. It also considers the role of Netflix, Roku and AppleTV, and the streamers – cord-cutters – who are increasingly turning to the Internet, not broadcast or cable TV networks, for the content they want to watch. They are creating a true home cinema experience in every den and living room.
This changes pricing, revenues and advertising structures. All is in flux, with no clear outcomes yet, keeping an eye on the Internet where all this new activity is happening.
